What is overcoming? A Poem

What s overcoming?
Is it a celebratory victory?
Where trumpets blow and fanfares sound?
Where everyone looks to me?

Well maybe it is,
and maybe this is what it will be.
But it isn’t always the case – maybe it will be in the quiet of night,
When a prisoner is set free.

To overcome means that the thing that holds you,
You know to what I speak,
A secret shame, a negative word or lack of confidence –
The theing that you arry on your back, that makes you feel weak

That is gone! That is what it is to overcome
Erased, cleared, broken,
No longer the pain is held,
all binds are undone.

That is overcoming. And it is different for everyone,
It won’t just happen, speak to God in prayer,
speak light into the darkness,
It happens when you give Him your despair.

God is good – He loves you dearly,
He wants your freedom found in Him.
God doesn’t want you bound in deep dark places,
He wants you cleaned, renewed, no longer in sin.

When you leave your past hurt behind,
That is when you claim victory,
No to act like it didn’t happen and bury it deep,
But to dig it up, place it in front of Him so that you can see..

You are loved, you are blessed,
You are God’s wonderful creation,
Don’t let an amateur artist try to smudge His work,

Instead declare it out loud, ‘I AM NO LONGER UNDER CONDEMNATION!’

What is overcoming?
Is it a celebratory victory?
Where trumpets blow and fanfares sound?

Yes. This is what happens in Heaven each time a soul is set free.
